It's for the burnt disc as you want to check the quality of the burn.

BTW you need the disc in your writer and not a DVD-ROM drive to perform the
Disc Quality test. This might be why it's greyed out.

Click on the Disc Quality tab wait a few seconds until it analyses the disc,
set the speed to 4X then start the scan. It'll show you the levels of
correctable and uncorrectable errors across the disc.

PIF peaks should be in single digits. PIE errors under 200 are okay and
should give a readable disc but less than 50 or so is a fairly good burn.

For the transfer test select the Benchmark tab then from the Run Test menu
select Transfer Rate.

The Scan Disc test you did earlier only confirms that the disc is readable
but not the actual quality of the burn.
