A valid opinion.
Everyone uses those transition fx at first.. that's ok.
It takes time to get good. Some just pick it up. .
I have also seen no end of uninspired cookie-cuuter work done by film grads
and 'studied' directors. If you have it in you, you will get it. If not you
won;t. Even after four years of excellent grade in film school.. people
still create crap.
All of this can be self-studied. I am sure that if someone learning were to
read our thread they would have second thoughts about that star wipe they
just added to their latest project.
Making the connection between what we see on TV and in the theaters and your
own desktop is a valid way to study what people are doing. The thing about
creating video is that examples of it are on thousands of channels 24 hours
a day.
When I am asked by someone if they should try something.. I always say YES!
Go for it. If you start to enjoy it you will become immersed in the theory
and practice of it. And eventually you will succeed at it.
