The actual footage itself is wonderful, its by far the best advert for
rolling American hillside you will see, each shot is set up well, and its
looks *good*
The content itself is, well, questionable. The script tells the tale well,
but the story of two lonley humans falling in love when society does not
approve is not a new one, and for that reason it is ridiculously over-rated.
And the fact the story is given a "20 years later" epilouge just makes it
stink of TV movie.
Being married and hetro probably gives me less appreciation for the film to
behold it as a masterpiece, and I hold a hell of a lot of contempt that
Jarhead has been so overlooked, as that evoked far more emotion throughout
the film and truly is a masterpiece.
