I've seen it. didn't think it was a particularly good film. The fact it's
two blokes is neither here nor there, it's basically forbidden love between
two people who happen to be blokes.
Yeah, you're right in that it's been overtaken by the pink mafia. If the
romance was between a man and a woman you'd have heard nothing and the film
would have sunk without a trace.
Going to put spoiler space in at this point:
The direction is OK, nothing special that stands out. Jack Twist's wife
(Ann Hathaway) is a throwaway character and if she wasn't in the film
wouldn't be missed/noticed. The incidental music is intrusive.
The landscapes are nice but all in all it's just not a great film. Watch it
on a rental if you're curious but the "gay thing" is very much overrated.
