I purchased a Philips DVP 642 Progressive Scan DVD Player several months ago.
It worked beautifully, playing all mannner of esoteric formats, until about
three weeks ago. Now whenever I insert a DVD -- either commercially
manufactured or home-authored -- the player churns away and displays a "no
disc" message. I have no idea why it stopped working or how to go about
fixing it. I bought a DVD Player cleaning kit, but the player can't boot the
cleaning disc either so I'm out of luck. Any ideas what might be causing the
"no disc" message to constantly show up?
