I know a guy who works for the RIAA and he goes into flea markets or
car washes or whatever, looking for bootleg CDs. Actually, he buys
one, If it's a bootleg, he has to go to the police and swear out a
complaint. I don't think the cops at a flea market really want to be
bothered. As long as there aren't any shootings or robberies, cops
would prefer to take it easy. Maybe that's why he buys them lunch.
Either way, they have to take the complaint. The RIAA has no power to
arrest anyone. Of course, they might try to intimidate somone. In
any event, that's how it's done here. I can't see the RIAA paying
four of their 'agents' to bust one guy, at least it doesn't go that
way in NY. If I see the guy again, I'll ask him.
