At the college where I used to teach, I had about 40 CASES of new,
unused Ampex U-Matic tapes, 30s & 60s. And a master tape library of
about 3000 titles on 3/4"!!!
My department head refused to front me a few 3/4" tapes when I needed
them. As for the library, he wanted them converted to DVDs - not
through an outboard recorder, but through Final Cut Pro. Yeah, right...
