Regardless of what was there or wasn't the sound is crap - maybe more effort
SHOULD have been put in upfront - what is the tape for??
Not a pro job? Just for a friend of the band- put it down to experience and
learn for the next gig - you could try accessing it via annalogue as opposed
to firewire, sometimes this gets rid of the cut off but you will get the
distortion (buzz / fuzziness)
If going off the camera - postion yourself where the audio is at it's most
'neutral' (centred at the back maybe) - this way your 'mic' might be able to
cope with the volume and you should get an average mix of the audio.
