No, don't just dismiss me as a crank :-)
Done a bit of rearranging around the PC of late, old Creative amplified speakers got
sent back to PCW (for the second time) as they were faulty, and I decided to go the
old fashioned HiFi separates route.
Dug out my old home made ELAC (UK, not Germany) speakers, revamped the wiring,
crossovers and added extra damping to the cabinet sides, repainted in gloss black (3
coats with sanding and final polishing) and not a bad job :-) Next I won a NAD 3020A
off eBay, which arrived this morning. Brought my Pro-Ject turntable down from the
upstairs studio, and hooked it all up.
Bloody hell :-)
I had actually forgotten how "nice" vinyl could sound. I only kept a dozen or so of
my old LPs, those in very best nick, so I'm now listening to the Rite Of Spring by
Stravinsky on my new hifi system, and I'm *really* enjoying it...
Oh, and it plays my MP3s and DVDs rather nicely too, just to come back on topic.
I wonder how many others of us use "real" hifi with out PCs to play multimedia
stuff? A list of others kit might be interesting to see...
