I'm trying to find the best way to transition between PowerPoint and a
DVD video while maintaining quality resolution.
We have a Dual monitor card in our PC, and we use powerpoint to send
the second monitor to the projector's VGA input and display the
presentations.
The DVD and Satellite TV use the standard composite outputs (yellow,
red, white for video and audio). These two go into the video mixer,
and then into the projector's video input.
We've been using the projector's input selector to switch, but that
displays a black screen for 2-4 seconds between each transition.
The video mixer board doesn't support VGA, and scan converters don't
give us the resolution necessary.
I thought I could throw in a PCI card into the computer that would have
a composite input, and then just have the second monitor be a dedicated
output to the projector. I don't know if there is any software that
would let me mix the two video signals.
I've checked out the Screen Pro Seamless Switcher as an external
solution, and the NewTek VT[4] system as a combo solution.
I'm a computer tech, but don't know much live video production. Any
assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Dan
