I would have to disagree with you. I have had success with Pinnacle's
DV500 (from 2.0-4.5 in various computers), Studio 8-9Plus, Liquid 5.5 to
now, Avid Liquid 7.1. But then, I am more computer savy than the average
"dell" user. The forums have been a wealth of info and help. Most of my
problems were "me" related (not fully knowing "how to").
Doing computer repairs has showm me that a lot of the public just don't
maintain their computers, and that could be a cause of a lot of
problems. But after experiencing "hey, why is my computer running so
slow", and finding out that Systemax sold them an XP computer with only
96megs of free ram (128 stick with video taking up 32 megs), what could
you expect?
You can drop by any NLE forum and read about problems that people are
having. And, you can also read about the successes. When you are the
largest (as Pinnacle was), you will have more than your share of
complaints. And yes, there will be some that will never be resolved. I
had a Matrox RT2500 that would never work after building the recommended
computer. Matrox tech support was stellar, but neither they nor I could
get it to work. Exchanged the RT2500 for a DV500 (bought thru
Videoguys), and it worked the very first time. I just stuck it in an
empty PCI slot and was good to go.
But you will hear about the complaints more than the successes.
