There are several factors used to determine the dollar value of a
broadcast performance:
a.. The amount of music used
b.. The medium on which it is broadcast
c.. How frequently the music airs
d.. The type of performance
e.. The time of day the music airs
f.. The amount of money available for distribution
g.. Sample and census surveys
The point is this; for every spin reported on a song, the amount of
royalties a record company gets to disperse among it's artists will
increase. More important to them though is the fact that the exec's
will get more money also. This is why a "Pay for play" song must
announced as such, so that the royalties are not improperly affected.
