AOL... had it for years. Finally convinced the family to can it.
Already set up a personal domain to handle mail needs for real cheap.
AOL's mail filters have been causing headaches for reception of legit
mail for self and numerous business associated of recent. Its really
unreliable.
AOL also dropped Usenet a year ago Feb. They also dropped it from
their Compuserve brand as well at the same time. They never offered
it from their Netscape brand. As such AOL'ers have had to locate free
servers.
Course, when the flood went to individual.net they wised up and
started charging. That drove them to Google, but Google doesn't
archive or carry most binary groups where you'd find videos and music.
There are still a few free NNTP servers out there if you know where
and how to look. However their reliability factor is not very stellar.
