Hmm. I see what you mean. Just finished watching it. To be honest I found
the first half unconvincing too.
....Not that their story is definitely untrue -but just none of it rings true
in the film somehow. I'm not sure if it's because of the way it is made
(surprisingly) or the lack of "proof" in their own tale, but the way it is
presented at least makes it all seem a little far-fetched.
As for the Guantanamo part... the Americans have really really let
themselves down badly. Just about all of that treatment cannot possibly be
anything other than counter-productive -no matter who they have captured.
