I won't buy into either format if they downgrade the signal just
because I use the component inputs on both of my HDTVs.
The only reason for me to consider HD is if the image will
be substantially cleaner than my two progressive scan DVD
players can generate. If the signal is downgraded too close
to the image quality that I already have, there will be no reason
to buy a new player and movies.
I have purchased a lot of DVDs and the studios will lose out
on HD sales to me if they make it so it isn't worth doing.
