Sony are delaying the launch of the PS3 due to problems with the Blu-ray
drive:

I've seen posts on many forums from people who said the PS3 will be their
first foray into the world of the hi-def formats. Wonder if this'll now
throw a bit of a spanner in the works with projected hi-def take-up rates
and/or which format gains early dominance out of Blu-ray and HD-DVD.
