I realize that you're just mindlessly repeating something that some
idiot journalist wrote, but think about it. The thing will still play MP3s
and WAV files. The French government is going to stop current iPod owners
from downloading files from Apple how? If a black market developed the
French government would stop it how? Are they going to x-ray every package
coming into France? Are they going to confiscate illicit iPods from people
on the street? Considering the current mood in France it's more likely that
this law would increase the iPods cachet. This looks like a no brainer to
me. Unless the rest of Europe joins France very quickly Apple just sits and
waits them out. Worst case scenario they make iPods that will play WMA
files, but that's not likely. Anyway you look at it doesn't look like the
French will flood eBay with cheap iPods.
