As the blessed Mel's first appearance wasn't until towards the end of the
third season, this can't be the reason for their not having issued the
second season. And he was only in nine of the 193 episodes, according to
tv.com. My guess is that if his estate was causing trouble, they'd simply
not issue those particular episodes - or threaten to do that....
As a born optimist, I'm hoping that the "best of" issues are *in addition*
to the season sets, rather than instead them - they've done that with the
Simpsons.
