I've been fooling around with adding sound effects and music to video
with Cakewalk Home Studio 2. Interesting to see the kind of
capabilities this puts at one's disposal, even with a modest "prosumer"
program like this.
Maybe this isn't the right way to ask this, but if you can simply
line-up the audio to the video and export the whole thing as a new
video file, under what circumstances would you use SMPTE? I understand
it has a role in sync'ing sound in film production, but it's not clear
to me.
