They didn't say how loud the sound had to be in order to be picked up
100 feet or 100 yards away. I'll bet it'll pick up a snowmobile at 100
yards. It's a little detail that they left out of the "specifications."
It's not at all uncommon for mic specs to be incomplete.

I know of no $69 shotgun mic that actually works like you expect this
one to. A mic with a parabolic reflector might get close to the
performance that you expect, but they sound pretty awful. The
Sennheiser long shotgun mics that gave that style of mic its name cost
a few thousand bucks and still won't pick up a normal conversation at
100 feet, but they'll pick up that snowmobile with better fidelity than
your DAK.
This is a joke. Return it for a refund and lower your expectations or
raise your budget substantially.
