You can build it yourself if you know how. I did it. I built a Dual Xeon 3.4, 4GB DDR2 Ram,
Supermicro motherboard, 80GB system drive, 4x 73GB U320SCSI Drives (Cheetahs), 256MB Geforce card,
Supermicro Server Case. The whole thing cost me under $3000 or so about a year ago. I'm sure it is
a bit cheaper now. I have my own computer company but I am not a Newtek authorized dealer. Newtek is
a great company and they often give 2 or 3 major software upgrades a year and they arent just bug
fixes. They are usually upgrading the features along with the fixes.

Forget Dell. Those systems arent going to do it. You better learn to speak fluent Indian also if you
want to get any support from them. The Toaster is uncompressed and needs power unless you are using
DV exclusively. Even so, do not skimp and get SATA drives. They aint going to cut it even if you
have 8 of them. With 4 SCSI drives, I can do 5 or 6 layers easily without any rendering.

If you do not know computers, then you may need to go with the turnkey route. If you build your own
and skimp on the parts, you will be pulling your hair out every time the pc stops recording or drops
frames, etc.

If you want help with the parts you will need or even want me to build a system for you, then let me
know. Just curious what vendors you looked into. Some of them are great... namely VHS in New
Hampshire and DVS.
