On the 3rd disk of the 2006 model year DVD version of _The Wizard of Oz_
(Three-Disc Collector's Edition) there is a 1933 cartoon short called, _The
Wizard of Oz_. The introduction to this cartoon says:
_The print you're about to see, believed to be the best known version to
exist, is presented in a "postage stamp" format to preserve the full image._
The image is surrounded by black bars: Two thin ones on the sides and two
thicker ones on the top and bottom. The aspect ratio appears to be larger
than 1.37:1 and less than 1.66:1: More like one of these:
1.44 :1
1.50 :1
1.55 :1
1.58 :1
1.59 :1
Anyway, while I am familiar with the letterbox format, I had never before
heard of a _postage stamp_ format.
