That's only if you are following that thread carefully. Most
subscribers read a lot of different threads and cannot be expected to
keep track of them blindly. It takes a minimum of context for them to
understand a response.

You exaggerate - you must be a woman.
No one is asking posters to do that. What we are asking is to snip out
the irrelevant parts of the post you are replying to, keeping at most
2 generations of prior comments, and putting your response below it.
That way we can gain a quick awareness of what you are commenting on.
When you top post we have to move down the text and fish for the
context of your response.

There is a thing called Netiquette which does not tolerate top
posting.
If you insist on being the oddball poster you will discover that most
people will ignore your responses because you are not honoring the
widely-respected convention.
