I thought I had a sound problem with my VX2000, sent it in to one of the
Sony authorized stations, standard tab for all repairs is $480 or so. I
think I got a new head drum for my money, but I discovered that the
problem was the batch of tape, not the camera. I had to send it back to
them to have the head aligned to a standard Sony tape so it would be
compatible with our two other VX2000s. It wouldn't play their tapes,
they wouldn't play my tape after repair. They successfully aligned it,
though, after I carefully told them what was wrong and provided a tape
made on the other camera at SP and LP speeds.
