It doesn't make any difference whatsoever. I was giving you the benefit of
my experience. I have _never_ seen a PC in a recording studio. I have
visited hundreds in my time. I have lots of personal friends in the music
business in the UK and have yet to see anything other than a Mac. Similarly
I have seen the majority of print publishing firms still using Macs. Ad
Agencies too invariably use Macs in _MY_ experience.

Perhaps the people frequent the audio newsgroups are indicative of another
sector i.e. the hobbyist that likes to spend time impressing each other how
"pro" they are. Ring any bells Richard? My "real world" experience is to
the contrary.

I am perfectly aware of the history of the mouse based gui. So where is the
Xerox GUI now? Surely nobody can deny that Apple developed it and
popularised it along with Commodore. M$ has always been playing catchup to
someone or other.

Vista bears little or no resemblance to OS X does it?

Anyone who believes in a free market should hope OS X and for that matter
Linux continue to develop their market share because a M$ hegemony is not
good for anyone. Its clearly not good for M$.

For the record I have never owned anything by Apple not even an iPod. I am
not an Apple fanboy quite the reverse actually. Credit where credit is due
was the point I was making. :-)
