Re: New Wintel Macs to do Windows XP

i too am in the audio recording business and when we initially purchased our
G5's and set up our digidesign studio with pro tools we went for training.
at training there were two dozen of us in that went to two different cities
and met a total of 11 different trainers in radio and tv. of those i
surveyed, only one had an apple/mac solution at home and 6 agreed that the
only reason their studio used apple/macs was because the decision wasn't
made by the engineers but by some paper pushing manager. moreover, they all
wished that their companies had either gone stienberg or some other
solution.

i wished i had made the move that week, because we could have returned all
our equipment (not software though) and gotten more pc power for the same
money we put in the g5's. it took us a year to wake up and learn that we
were paying a fortune for help, equipment, and software solutions, that we
could get for a song or FREE in the pc side market. we did good in the end
however, finding a low budget tv studio who would opt for used equipment and
thus got enough out of our used gear to get a nicely outfited 24 channel
Motu interfaces (896's that were designed for mac's :o) and steinberg's top
shelf applications, along with some nice additional software options for
authoring and tweaking.

we are sooooooo pleased that the apple/mac's are out of here! we can now
outfit and solve our own pc solutions.
