Maxell has a consumer grade and a pro grade, presumably made by
Panasonic, which you can buy for a little bit less. I think for the
extra buck the pro grade are worth it but if you shoot a lot and don't
care about a dropout here and there, consumer works fine.

Sony is always more expensive so don't worry about using those.

Panasonic, Maxell and JVC are in the same general price range. Right
now JVC is down to as low as $2.09. I think the formulation is similar
to Panasonic from what I understand.

We have sold tens of thousands of almost every variety with very few
complaints about anything so I'd say you're good with any of those or
step up the the Panasonic AY-DVM63PQ for a little better reliability.
For shooting anything critical I recommend the 63MQ.
