I've had other mp3 players and I find the Shuffle to be the best simple
flashplayer for uses where durablity and ease of use are a priority.
You mentioned that your primary use will be for working out. The
Shuffle is ideal for this. Not having a display is a plus in this case
as it's only a distraction and a possible point of entry for water (or
sweat). The controls on the Shuffle are dead simple and can be easily
operated by feel. You want to be concentrating on your workout - not
navigating menus and trying to look for that little button to adjust
the volume or skip the song.
iTunes is another plus too. I've used other music library programs and
I find iTunes to be the most useable. It doesn't have confusing menus
with stupid skin options and obscure features. It does the job
efficiently and elegantly.
My old mp3 player (MPIO FY-1000) had voice recording and FM and you
know what? I NEVER used them. There is nothing to listen to on the
radio anymore and who wants to record messages? You want to listen to
Music or Podcasts!
If you need to be able to locate a specific song and play with EQ
settings, then try the iPod Nano (not the Creative Zen). There is a 1gb
version for only $150.
