Look at the Creative MuvoTX as well.

You can buy songs on iTunes for the iPod; this is the biggest difference.
Other issues:
1. The battery. It depends on what you want. The Creative uses an AAA
cell. The iPod uses an internal rechargeable Li-Ion. Each type has its
good and bad points.
2. Accessories. A lot more accessories are available for the iPod.
3. The Shuffle has very good sound quality, with a higher quality amplifier.
