You'll find among those people who ask a question of Apple vs anything they
tend to choose the anything. This isn't a problem with Apple, it's just that
most people who ask the question are asking because they're looking for a
reason not to buy Apple.
As for a reason to choose Apple:
It's simple enough to use that even if you die in the gym it might be
playing when they bury you.
It doesn't have features that would confuse your dog.
It is "mature" technology, so it won't be outdated by something new
tomorrow, it was outdated by something old yesterday.
You can only use it with iTunes so you don't have to worry about choosing
anything for yourself.
It supports AAC, something that no other MP3 players (except other iPods) I
know of support.
You might be able to join the class-action lawsuit.
Those are all the reasons I can think of.
