ummm, experience tells me that you will get better sound quality for the
money with many other options. I haven't taken an oscilloscope to an iPod of
any kind, but my ears have told me that it is substantially far from best in
class. The sound quality may be "very good" as compared to a pile of dung,
but as compared to Creative, the iPod typically has problems if you double
blind the testing (to avoid vendor bias) and I strongly suspect you'll see
major flaws if you compare them by oscilloscope.
The average user probably won't notice, but anyone who has the ears to tell
sound systems apart will hear the difference easily. You'll also find there
is a very good reason Apple doesn't publish the S/N specs of their units
(http://www.apple.com/ipodshuffle/specs.html would have the spec, it's
missing) while Creative does
(http://www.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=213&subcategory=214&product=12720&nav=2,
"Up to 90dB Frequency Response 20Hz to 20kHz"). You can make baseless
arguments all you want, if someone refuses to publish a spec when everyone
does there's a reason.
