Pretty much the same kind of hardware (and non-hardware) it
would take to make good video with any other kind of camera.

It is pretty unlikely that the visible quality of your edited video would
suffer from even a low-end editing software application. More likely
that your choices of bells & whistles would be more limited. But many
people (likely including Martha Stewart) think "That is a Good Thing".
