Actually, some of the movie studios are STILL producing VHS tapes.
Universal for example still releases all of their movies on VHS. King
Kong, Jarhead and Two for the Money all saw VHS releases. For me, this
is irrefutable proof that no movie studios will abandon standard DVD in
the near future. DVD probably won't last quite as long as VHS did, but
there's no way support for it is dying off just 2 or 3 years after the
HD formats hit the market. NO CHANCE IN HELL!

Another important factor that EVERYONE has failed to acknowledge is you
need more than just new a player for these HD formats. HELLO, you need a
new TELEVISION as well! What is the market penetration for HDTV right
now? Less than 10%... Sure, it's growing every year, but it's still too
small to be of significance. There are still more people out there using
their dusty old VCRs every day than there are using high-def TV sets...
Think about that for a while.
