What do you mean, "Yet another converter?" You want a firewire to analogue
converter, where you don't have to have adaptor cables? Fine. Expect to
pay about ten times what the Canopus costs. Whenever you go from pro-sumer
type equipment to professional equipment, you should expect some need for
adaptor cables. The Canopus units provide an analogue video output (you'll
need an RCA to BNC cable for this) and an analogue audio output (left &
right) in the form of RCA connectors. Yes, you will need an adaptor to go
from RCA to XLR. You can make it yourself --- Shield of RCA to Pin one of
Male XLR; Center conductor of RCA to Pin 2 of XLR. Strap Pin 1 to Pin 3 in
XLR plug. Or, just buy one (actually two) from Radio Shack. About $10.
