Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: SEASON ONE,
BILL MAHER: I'M SWISS, THE FLESH EATERS, FLESH FOR FRANKENSTEIN, KEN
BURNS: AMERICAN LIVES, LOONEY TUNES MOVIE COLLECTION: BUGS BUNNY/ROAD-
RUNNER MOVIE / 1001 RABBIT TALES, THE PATSY, TOM AND JERRY: THE
SPOTLIGHT COLLECTION, VOLUME 2, UNDEAD, and WARNING SHOT:
BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: SEASON ONE (reviewed by Mike Pinsky, overall
score 95/100):
"Do you need another indicator of how strongly one can get converted by
the new BSG? Richard Hatch, the original Apollo, was an outspoken
critic of the show when it began, mostly because it scuttled his own
plans for a Galactica reboot that would pick up where the 1978 version
left off. Now, he is a semi-regular character on the show as the sneaky
Tom Zarek, former terrorist turned political leader. It is a great
part, and Hatch chews into it with zeal. If he can join the colonial
fleet (and even agree to play against type rather than taking a vanity
role), why can't you?"

BILL MAHER: I'M SWISS (reviewed by Neal Masri, overall score 85/100):
"Maher's standup routine is politically charged and, yes, politically
incorrect. If you're ready for a break from observational comedy about
airline food, this may be what you're looking for."

THE FLESH EATERS (reviewed by Paul Corupe, overall score 88/100):
"The Flesh Eaters is quite simply a testament to what a reasonably
skilled director can do with an admittedly tacky story idea, a handful
of willing participants and a few thousand bucks."

FLESH FOR FRANKENSTEIN (reviewed by Brett Cullum, overall score 89/100):
"Flesh for Frankenstein is a film that could only be made in Europe in
1973, because it pushes eroticism to the brink of horror in a way that
now would be considered widely unacceptable. It's a strange gem of a
movie that has quite a healthy cult following."

KEN BURNS: AMERICAN LIVES (reviewed by Mike Pinsky, overall score
98/100):
"Ken Burns is a documentary filmmaker who rises to the level of his
subjects. When he tackles larger-than-life figures (Jefferson, Frank
Lloyd Wright, Mark Twain, Jack Johnson) whose real identities were even
more complicated than their (often self-created) myths, Burns finds
clues to the experience of America itself. The bigger the topic, the
better Burns's work is. "

LOONEY TUNES MOVIE COLLECTION: BUGS BUNNY/ROAD-RUNNER MOVIE / 1001
RABBIT TALES (reviewed by Aaron Bossig, overall score 90/100):
"These compilation movies, however, are ideal for simply deciding to
spend an evening in front of the TV with Porky Pig and Daffy Duck.
Want to order a pizza, take the phone off the hook, and just have a
few laughs?"

THE PATSY (reviewed by Neil Dorsett, overall score 93/100):
"If you're not already down with Jerry to the point you'll laugh at a
reversal or exaggeration of his usual shtick, then The Patsy is not your
Lewis movie."

TOM AND JERRY: THE SPOTLIGHT COLLECTION, VOLUME 2 (reviewed by Russell
Engebretson, overall score 92/100):
"This is not the archival set of golden-age Tom and Jerry cartoons that
preservationists and hardcore collectors were waiting for, but it is an
exciting release -- despite its shortcomings -- for most toon lovers. If
your only acquaintance with Tom and Jerry is from the sixties onward,
don't pass up this collection based on those namby-pamby, watered-down
versions of the originals."

UNDEAD (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 88/100):
"Depending on how you like your methods of zombie dispatching, you'll
either love or hate the approach the Spierig brothers have taken. For
the most part, I enjoyed this type of splatter -- gratuitous but
lighthearted."

WARNING SHOT (reviewed by Chris Claro, overall score 90/100):
"There's a lot of enjoyment to be gleaned from the sleek, mid-'60s
compact that is Warning Shot. It handles its twists well, thanks to
adept acting and a tight story. Janssen's terseness gives the movie a
bracing edge, and George Grizzard's (Advise and Consent) performance is
a jaunty gem."
