Well, everyone works differently I guess.
Personally, my typical quick and dirty VO chain is
Mic fed to Mackie1642 to DSR20 DVCAM Tape.
That gets batch captured (eliminating junk/ bad takes etc.)
And digitized into Final Cut Pro.
I typically do my VO/Narration work at the end of my field video tapes
so that if I ever need to re-create a project I can just re-batch
capture the audio right along with the video and any compression/audio
processing I applied in Final Cut Pro stays attached to the clips.
