I'd say that V = vertical and H = horizontal. I'd also guess that this
is a CRT set, but what do I know?

These would be the synch signals or else the actual vertical and
horizontal sawtooth waves, I'd guess - like what else could they be?
:-)

I'd put my money (<= $0.05) on the synch pulses (= synch signals).

In short, and whichever, this pair of signals controls the raster
externally. This is part of why I think you have a CRT set.

I have no idea what equipment would provide those signals. Something
from Barney Rubble's cave?
