The requirements and compatibility information on the
Adobe website seems quite comprehensive. Have you
checked your choices against those lists? Those would
be my primary source of that kind of info.
As a matter of personal experience, when I am builing
video NLE workstations, I use a "small" 40-60-80GB
hard drive as the boot/OS/application/memory cache
drive, and at least two large separate drives for the
video/audio files. And note Adobe's recommendation
for stipped disk sets (RAID 0) if you are doing HD.
Having at least two separate drives (not a single
logical disc on a striped set) allows rendering from
one disc to another to avoid "thrashing" back and
forth between source and destination files.
