I was just watching episode 1 of the new Doctor Who DVD, Genesis of the
Daleks and, after about 15 minutes, my DVD player ceased playing.
I've tried other DVDs and CDs and it looks like the drive in my 4 year
old chipped Pioneer DV-939A itself has died. All I get is the nice blue
LED to the right of the drive flashing on and off whenever a disk is loaded.
I've got three options, I guess...
1. Repair. How much is it likely to cost to get it repaired? It's
already four years old, so it is even worth it?
2. Replace. Any recommendations on a similarly specified DVD player?
Note absolutely must be region free (chipped or not), and capable of
playing RCE disks.
3. Upgrade. Any recommendations on a replacement which is also a DVD
recorder (with Freeview)?
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Ian
