Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of CAPOTE, CIRQUE DU SOLEIL: CORTEO,
CRASH: DIRECTOR'S CUT, ELEVATOR TO THE GALLOWS: CRITERION COLLECTION,
FILMS OF FAITH COLLECTION, FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE SPACE MONSTER, THE
HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY, OCCUPATION: DREAMLAND, and SLAMNATION:
CAPOTE (reviewed by Ryan Keefer, overall score 84/100):
"Let's get the obvious out of the way; Hoffman's lispy speech inflection
is a little bit surprising at first, but then (like his performance) you
gradually accept it without reservation. In the supplemental material,
where archived footage of Capote is included, you'll notice just how
spot on Hoffman's interpretation is."

CIRQUE DU SOLEIL: CORTEO (reviewed by James A. Stewart, overall
score 92/100):
"Watching a tightrope walker high above the stage, you get a view you
wouldn't have had if watching the Cirque du Soleil in person, since you
can't get up there to see the expression on her face (and wouldn't want
to anyway)."

CRASH: DIRECTOR'S CUT (reviewed by Jennifer Malkowski, overall
score 85/100):
"Crash is a moving film about racism written by two white men who are
obviously trying hard to think through the issues and say something
real. For what it is, it succeeds, but some part of me finds the premise
a bit suspect."

ELEVATOR TO THE GALLOWS: CRITERION COLLECTION (reviewed by Steve Evans,
overall score 91/100):
"Unlike the later films of Godard or Truffaut, who backed up their
flashy camerawork with substantive scripts, rich in thematic concerns,
Elevator to the Gallows is all surface glitter. It is a striking mood
piece draped with rather obvious ideas."

FILMS OF FAITH COLLECTION (reviewed by David Johnson, overall
score 90/100):
"Overall, The Nun's Story is an excellent treatment of a mysterious,
cloistered segment of the God-fearing population, and an illustration at
what hard-core humility really is."

FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE SPACE MONSTER (reviewed by Paul Corupe, overall
score 94/100):
"Like Dark Sky's The Horror of Party Beach disc released earlier this
year, Frankenstein Meets the Space Monster is a teenage schlock 'n'
roll monster show par excellence. It is a mind-blowing montage of
stock footage, dime store effects, and extreme sci-fi goofiness that
has -- until now -- been almost forgotten in the overflowing sewers of
B-filmdom."

THE HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall
score 92/100):
"Had it not been based on sacred source material -- books and radio
plays, television shows, and computer games memorized and immortalized
over and over again -- this would be a smashing, witty entertainment.
Instead, there are so many clouds that hang over this production that
it's hard to see the truth from all the tantrums."

OCCUPATION: DREAMLAND (reviewed by Joel Pearce, overall score 92/100):
"Occupation: Dreamland is a documentary about young men who have found
themselves in a strange and dangerous world, unsure why they chose to be
there in the first place."

SLAMNATION (reviewed by Neal Solon, overall score 95/100):
"SlamNation can be approached on two levels. It can be seen as a film
about the art of slam poetry or as a film about competition. The film
provides direct support for either viewing as it explores the tension
between the poets who consider themselves artists and those who
primarily consider themselves competitors. "
