Hi all,
I'm fairly new to mp3 files and only just got a player a few days ago. I
found loads of info and advice here in this group about how file names/info
is stored/tagged into mp3 files and read a post suggesting to get winamp to
edit the file properties.
I was totally confused at first as to why I ended up with 'Unknown Album'
Unknown Artist' which also really bugged me. I sat down with winamp and
edited all the file properties in my mp3 player.
I've noticed that files I've ripped from my own CD's only get a ID3V2 tag
while those I download could have either ID3V1 or ID3V2 tags or I think
sometimes both. Is this normal???
I've also noticed that sometimes having either a ID3V1 or a ID3V2 tag is
sufficient for the file info but other files have say only a ID3V2 tag and
the player gives 'Unknown Album' I've copied the properties across from one
tag to the other so both tags have the same info and corrected this. Is this
OK??
Finally, I'm left with a handfull of files that have both tags filled out
all info song/artist/album but the player still displays 'Unknown Album' why
is this happening and how do I deal with these files???
