Thanks. If I understand correctly, the ipodsoft pod player is capable
of copying files from the ipod's playable database back to a PC, a
feature lacking in itunes. Other than that, for which I can generally
avoid the need, I see no advantage over itunes. I don't especially
fancy itunes, but since all software has its own bugs and aggravations,
once I have learned to get along with a given program I don't switch or
even upgrade without a compelling reason. For ripping, I have been
using the ripper that comes with the Goldwave audio editor (which I
also use for recording from tape and LP records). Goldwave is
inexpensive and I am happy with it.
