As someone else on this thread has said, HD football is awesome. As
for scripted programming, I think anything that does a lot of location
filming looks way better in HD. Also shows with very sophisticated and
well-lit sets benefit greatly. I'm thinking sci-fi shows and Bones
offhand. (I stopped watching Bones but the sets were top-notch.) The
shows that benefit least from HD are sitcoms with
"just-above-soap-quality" sets.
HD is very cool. You will like, and the prices keep getting better all
the time. I would encourage you not to be hemmed in by the idea that
you have to get programming from cable and or satellite. Lots and lots
of great over-the-air HD programming out there, all for the minor cost
of putting up an antenna.
