That's my assessment, precisely. JA is OK in the role as far as her acting
goes. But the script is insane and ludicrous, a complete mess, and JA is NOT
a good fit for a role of this kind. She is simply not believable as the
character she turns out to be.

You're on the right track w/ that, and I agree completely: AJ would've been
much better suited for a role like this...even though the plot would still
be absurd and utterly clich. It's been done to death. See my other comments
in a separate post.

She can act, and has some appeal...but not in a heavy role, or as a master
conniver and manipulator. I liked her in Good Girl. I agree she could handle
comedy and lighter drama,,,cute, simple romance films. She just doesn't have
the acting chops or screen persona suited for a thriller.
