Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: A CHIPMUNK
CHRISTMAS, THE BRAT PACK MOVIES AND MUSIC COLLECTION, FLESH / TRASH /
HEAT, THE FUGITIVE KIND, JUMANJI: DELUXE EDITION, MY LITTLE PONY: A VERY
MINTY CHRISTMAS, RIZE, and UGETSU: CRITERION COLLECTION:
ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: A CHIPMUNK CHRISTMAS (reviewed by David
Johnson, overall score 85/100):
"Widely regarded as a modern miracle of sociobiology, the chipmunks
eventually learned to walk on their hind legs, dressed in form-fitting
one-pieces, began speaking fluent English, and, amazingly, gained the
ability to harmonize."

THE BRAT PACK MOVIES AND MUSIC COLLECTION (reviewed by Brett Cullum,
overall score 83/100):
"The most definitive title would be 'The Anthony Michael Hall Plays a
Geek Who Pretends to Have a Girlfriend in Canada Collection,' because
these are the three movies where that statement is true."

FLESH / TRASH / HEAT (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall score 83/100):
"Sexy, scary, and silly, Flesh, Trash, and Heat are not so much time
capsules as permanent vestiges of a certain aesthetic temperament, one
which believed that everything was art. With Paul Morrissey behind the
lens, Andy Warhol just might have been right."

THE FUGITIVE KIND (reviewed by George Hatch, overall score 98/100):
"The entire cast is electrifying in bringing these damned and distraught
characters to life. Brando, Magnani, and Woodward are in top form,
generating a dynamic chemistry. This is one of Brando's best
performances of the 1950s, his peak decade, and it's on a par with his
work in Streetcar and On the Waterfront."

JUMANJI: DELUXE EDITION (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall score 78/100):
"When viewed in light of today's modern CGI mechanics, Jumanji is
visually weak and incredibly dated. The monkeys look like midgets in
matted fur, while the digital lion is so stylized that you half expect
it to spout free-verse poetry instead of growls."

MY LITTLE PONY: A VERY MINTY CHRISTMAS (reviewed by David Johnson,
overall score 85/100):
"In an effort to spice up what would be, admittedly, a pretty boring
review, I've decided to write this up from a different point of view.
It's my way of keeping the craft fresh, you know? So, here's My Little
Pony -- A Very Minty Christmas as written by a minister of propaganda in
a world cruelly run by a My Little Pony totalitarian regime that governs
through violence and aggression and tolerates no dissent to their
unlimited power."

RIZE (reviewed by Brett Cullum, overall score 96/100):
"Ringling Brothers ain't never seen no clowns like this -- Rize is off
the hook."
FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/rize.php
UGETSU: CRITERION COLLECTION (reviewed by Dan Mancini, overall
score 100/100):
"Mizoguchi's oeuvre, like Naruse's, is distinguished by a preoccupation
with the plight of women in Japanese society. Ugetsu exemplifies his
sensibilities, pitting a female longing for cohesion and family against
a male drive for status, wealth, and sexual power."
