Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of THE DETONATOR, IF ONLY, THE NEW
WORLD, ON THE OUTS, PUFF, PUFF, PASS, RONIN: COLLECTOR'S EDITION, RUMOR
HAS IT..., SIDE EFFECTS, and SURRENDER, DOROTHY:
THE DETONATOR (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 80/100):
"I contend that this is the most important aspect of these DVD-only
releases, because, let's face it, if you're renting it, it probably has
something to do with the promise of fireballs and gunfire plastered on
the disc cover. And lucky for you, The Detonator delivers."

IF ONLY (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall score 68/100):
"If only If Only didn't end the way it did. If only If Only didn't
cast Jennifer Love Hewitt as the center of our romantic fantasy. If
only If Only hadn't been filled with so much cutesy crap
conversational repartee. If only If Only had dropped the droopy J-Love
musical numbers."

THE NEW WORLD (reviewed by Brendan Babish, overall score 95/100):
"While I generally dislike voiceovers, Malick has a talent for injecting
freeform poetry into the thoughts of his characters without sounding
hokey. In tandem with the beautiful vision on the screen, this makes for
powerful viewing."

ON THE OUTS (reviewed by Adam Arseneau, overall score 86/100):
"The unfortunate part for these three women is that things only seem to
make sense in their lives when all three are incarcerated together. In
jail, their lives are structured, controlled, and routine. They are free
from drug addiction, the influences of others, their parents, and the
drama that surrounds their normal existence."

PUFF, PUFF, PASS (reviewed by Mitchell Hattaway, overall score 45/100):
"I'm more than a little sick of these stupid cannabis comedies. I think
it's high time for something new, like, say, a movie chronicling the
wacky hijinks of crystal meth addicts."

RONIN: COLLECTOR'S EDITION (reviewed by Eric Profancik, overall
score 90/100):
"Ronin maintains its distance from Hollywood by embracing a European-
style to its filmmaking. With a subdued palette, dark shadows, and real,
'lived in' locales, the movie has a gritty, decidedly edgy feel to it."

RUMOR HAS IT... (reviewed by Michael Rankins, overall score 75/100):
"It's an idea rife with hilarious comedic possibilities. The execution?
That's another story."

SIDE EFFECTS (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall score 78/100):
"By setting this story within a world many of us have little or no
connection to (the big business balloon of legalized drug dealing), it
creates an immediate level of interest as well as a unique insider view
of the workings within such a firm. For a while, this is all that the
movie needs."

SURRENDER, DOROTHY (reviewed by Neal Masri, overall score 70/100):
"Fresh off of her Academy Award nominated triumph in Something's Gotta
Give, the next logical move for Diane Keaton was...a low budget, made-for-
television weeper with an unknown cast."
