File share works for me only as long as I know what I want - I always
needed the radio to feature music I wouldn't have known to look for.
Back when there were decent stations in the NYC area, I'd simply drop a
cassette into my tape deck, set the tuner to one of my favorite
stations, and hit "record", then scan the tapes whenever I was driving
- I heard some great, unsigned, never-to-be-heard again songs that way.
I still use tapes when "recording" off the internet, though I'm
considering moving up to burning 80-minute blocks on CD-RW's as audio
CD's (I'd burn as really-long MP3, but my CD player won't fast-forward
within MP3 files), then listening to that to search for new music.
