Sorry Tapeguy. That's the way it is. When you buy ANYTHING from a company
that has complete control over all aspects of it there is absolutely NO
excuse for such sloppy , bug ridden, undependable crap.
It isn;t a 100% track record I am talking about here. And you know that. I
will say it again for you though.. If Apple makes the hardware, makes the OS
AND makes the apps that run on them there is no excuse for some of the
lamest code breaking and crippling OS releases I have ever seen. No excuse
whatsoever. I am not talking about mechanical failures here , which are
common problems with Apples, too. I am talking about the failure to
orchestrate software, hardware and OS releases. For example when they
released OS upgrades and had no fucking idea they would break FCP and leave
people swinging in the wind until they got their shit together... Actually I
find it hard to believe they had no idea.. rather they released the OS
upgrades knowing they would cause problems.
When I design something for someone they expect it to work. I can't say to
my clients.. oh.. sorry.. only a few of these will work perfectly. And you
will have a lot of problems with them on a regular basis. Of course, some of
the things I work on have people's lives depending on them.

If they fail repeatedly.. YES.

That's just sales hype. It is simply a lie.

I don't consider ANY industry 'publications' to be representative of
ANYTHING. I DO consider personal experience valid. But ad rags and cheezy
reviews... come on.. who are you kidding?

Increasing market share? You mean.. from 4% to 4.01%

If DELL made the OS or MS made the computers I would expect them to be
flawless.

No.. I would never take the word of a salesman. Ever.
