It's, I wouldn't say common but not unknown either, that just because of the
way that some discs are mastered, that certain titles just won't play
properly in certain players. It can happen if neither the disc or player is
faulty.
If you try it in another DVD player, then you'll know for sure if the disc
is or isn't faulty, and if getting it replaced will be a fruitless exercise
or not.
