Is there no way you can go and rip the same CD again, this time with a
different ripper? Or at least in an un-protected format?!
the usual way I would get around the itunes protected files is to write
an audio CD with the m4a files. Then re-rip it back to the pc into WAV
format. Then you can use any of a million programs to convert WAV to
any format you desire, using the best free multi format convertor:

But I can understand you probably dont want to reburn a cd just to rip
it again!
